In the sales area of supermarkets and shopping malls, lighting is not just a simple tool for illumination, but also an important element for creating atmosphere and attracting customers. A bright and color-coordinated shopping environment not only makes consumers feel comfortable but also stimulates their desire to shop. This article will delve into how to create a shopping space that is both simple and vibrant through supermarket lighting design, allowing customers to enjoy the pleasure of shopping in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
1. Lighting Division
The lighting in supermarket spaces is also an important part of product promotion. Because lighting can change the appearance and atmosphere of the entire supermarket scene, appropriate lighting can make products more attractive, easier for customers to discover, and increase their desire to purchase. There are three basic types of lighting used in supermarket spaces: basic lighting, accent lighting, and ambient lighting.
Basic lighting refers to the fundamental illumination within the store. Outside, it includes the lighting used for window displays, the lights illuminating the sidewalks, and the lights on the ceiling. Inside, it includes basic lighting and safety pathway indicators, among others. Basic lighting can be direct or indirect, depending on the type of store and the specific products displayed and sold. For example, a bakery may require indirect lighting to highlight the soft brown tones of bread and various pastries.
2. Accent Lighting
1. Accent lighting has functions that basic lighting cannot fulfill, such as providing special effects for certain products. Accent lighting can use fixtures with a narrow beam angle, primarily to enhance window display lighting, making shelves, counters, and products appear bright and attracting customer attention. Accent lighting includes downlights and display case lighting.
2. Downlights can effectively illuminate specific areas above counters, and the installation position on the ceiling should be chosen carefully to avoid reflective light from glass displays or counters that may irritate customers' eyes.
3. Display case lighting is mainly used to overcome glare caused by reflections from glass displays and sliding glass doors. If display case lighting is above the eye level of the products, it can be easily concealed. In addition to strongly illuminating the products, it can also shine upwards to highlight the contours of the products. It can also be used to illuminate the upper part of walls, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The main function of accent lighting is to help customers judge and compare products, allowing them to make the best choices, while also aiding sales staff in quickly and effectively retrieving the products customers need.
3. Ambient Lighting
Ambient lighting can eliminate shadows and create different effects in special displays. It not only illuminates products but can also directly light walls to create atmosphere. It can directly illuminate models and can even be used to light advertising boards featuring product samples. The relationship between ambient lighting and display personnel is the most direct.
In window displays, ambient lighting can use filters to create various colors of light, producing dramatic effects. Inside the store, ambient lighting can make product displays more distinctive, requiring stronger brightness, typically using incandescent spotlights or incandescent floodlights. Spotlights can concentrate light on a specific area, while floodlights can illuminate a larger area. To achieve dramatic effects with ambient lighting in display areas, display personnel need to address two issues: brightness and color. They can apply observations and experiences from sunlight's illumination of nature to display lighting. Most store display lighting shines from above or the side. Light shining from below can easily be blocked by display fixtures or products, creating shadows. Side lighting is more suitable for furniture displays.
4. Lighting and Color
1. Color can enhance customers' purchasing decisions, and lighting can make colors appear warm and natural. At the same time, the hue of the lighting will also affect people's appearance and the packaging effect of items, allowing for a better understanding of the essential characteristics of supermarkets.
2. There are some special areas in supermarkets, such as the deli area, produce area, and flower area. The deli area should use warm-toned lighting to illuminate delicious food and create an appetizing atmosphere. The produce area needs to use lighting that simulates natural light to maintain the freshness and color of the ingredients. The flower area requires soft lighting to create a romantic and comfortable atmosphere. The setup of rest areas is very important; warm lighting and soft music allow guests to take a moment to rest.
Through clever lighting design, we can create a shopping environment in the sales area of supermarkets that is both comfortable and engaging. Such an environment not only enhances the shopping experience for customers but also effectively promotes product sales. Let us explore the art of supermarket lighting together to bring consumers a better shopping experience!
